It seems we continue to learn more and more about the health benefits of green tea.. Green tea has been consumed and enjoyed in Asia for hundreds of years and they have recently shown the world that it is loaded with goodness.

Green Tea Extract has now become the subject of studies around the world thanks to its therapeutic benefits as well as its role in promoting weight loss.

Eastern countries have appreciated the benefits for a long time now. The west eventually connected the dots and realized that green tea was a big reason heart problems are not so common in Asia. The average Asian drinks several cups a day. It is also much less common to see an Asian that is overweight or obese. Unless they are a sumo wrestler of course.

Studies indicate that green tea aids in thermogenesis, which relates to the body’s production of heat, the burning of calories, and the metabolism of fats. Green tea appears to increase metabolism without increasing heart rate or causing any other unwanted side effects.

Green tea also works as an antioxidant, which helps keep blood vessels clear. The active ingredient is Polyphenol, which is actually more active as an antioxidant than even vitamin E.

Studies also indicate green tea may help the body’s immune system fight off germs, and also be beneficial in helping to prevent breast cancer.

Green tea versus, green tea extract. There are many benefits to drinking green tea daily. It offers all of it’s benefits, it brings water into your system, and it makes you feel full. However if do not enjoy the actual green tea beverage, you may still receive many of the great benefits by taking green tea extract in a supplement form.

Green tea extract is not a magic pill, however it does offer many positive health benefits. Drinking green tea is the favoured method of enjoying it’s benefits. If you just ran out of green tea though, green tea extract is a good second choice.

Issues with green tea extract supplements:

One potential problem is that you may not be getting what the company promises on the label. Herbs are not highly regulated and testing has shown that some companies don’t use standardized extracts or package their product in facilities that are pharmaceutical grade.

Try not to buy according to price. When it comes to extracts you tend to get what you pay for, low-grade extracts can cheat you on the quantity of ingredients that are stated on the contents facts.

Look for standardized green tea extract. If you are sensitive to caffeine or already getting enough from other beverages, look for a green tea extract that is decaffeinated.

All and all, green tea leaves are extremely beneficial. Not only that, they are also delicious as far as I am concerned. Try adding a cup or two to your daily diet.
