Unprovoked shark attacks occur on average four times a year. Unprovoked attacks on sharks occur far more frequently. Believe it or not, as many as 73 million sharks die each year by human hands. It does not take much research to find out why.

A massive percentage of shark deaths come about by way or shark ‘finning’. Shark fin soup is hugely popular in Asia and is considered a delicacy. Shark finning is the process of catching sharks, slicing only their fins off, and tossing them back into the deep blue sea to die. It is a sickening practice and I honestly hate even thinking about it.

The collection of shark fins for snotty rich people must stop. Overly expensive delicacies like caviar and shark fin soup are nothing but tool for flaunting ones wealth. Shark finning has finally been banned in Mexico, but it continues to happen in Asia, and will continue to occur if nothing is done about it. Everyday boat loads of shark fins are brought to shore without their owners.

Leave the sharks alone. I HATE SHARK FIN SOUP. Vegetable soup is where it’s at.

To learn more about why these sharks are suffering, check out the amazing film that is, SHARKWATER.
